KMFDM, Germany’s sensational industrial and dance artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Marquee Theater!
KMFDM was formed in Hamburg (Germany) in 1984. Its name is an acronym for Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid which, according to the band, loosely translates to "no pity for the majority." The band currently consists of Sascha Konietzko (vocals, guitar, bass, programming, keyboards, synthesizer, and percussion), Lucia Cifarelli (vocals and keyboards), Jules Hodgson (guitar, bass, and keyboards), Andy Selway (drums), and Steve White (guitar). Their musical style is best described as a blend of industrial (a genre of experimental music that uses transgressive or provocative sounds and themes and is an abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music), industrial rock, industrial metal (a genre that draws from industrial dance music, thrash metal and hardcore punk, using repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals), and dance rock (a genre – originating in the early 1980s, following the mainstream death of punk and disco – related to pop rock and post punk but with fewer rhythm and blues influences). Their lyrics are fiercely political and are usually about fighting violence, war, and oppression. They’ve had a stellar career with 19 studio albums, 3 live albums, 10 compilation albums, 6 video albums, 23 singles, 4 remix albums, and their music has also been featured on the soundtrack of the films Bad Boys, Mortal Kombat, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, and many others.
