Morrissey, England’s sensational alternative rock and indie pop artist is bringing his signature sounds to Marquee Theater!
Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in Davyhulme (Lancashire, England) in 1959 and he’s a singer, songwriter, and author. As a child he was interested in literature, kitchen sink realism, and popular music. He began his musical journey by leading two punk bands, The Nosebleeds and Slaughter and The Dogs. The bands weren’t very successful and Morrissey began to focus on a career in music journalism. He wrote many books on music and film in the early 1980s but shifted his focus to music again when he formed the indie rock band The Smiths in 1982. The band went on to have a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 1 live album, 10 compilation albums, 1 video album, 14 music videos, 1 extended play, and 20 singles. The band split up in 1987 and Morrissey went to work on his solo career. He released his debut solo album (Viva Hate) and it was quite well received by the critics. Both it and his follow-up albums (Bona Drag, Kill Uncle, Your Arsenal, and Vauxhall and I) contained many hit singles and did well on the UK Albums chart. Your Arsenal was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Alternative Album category.
Don’t miss your chance to see this artist who’s a spokesman for millions of the disaffected with his poetic, biting lyrics and dramatic vocals!
