Stone Temple Pilots, California's sensational alternative rock and grunge artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Marquee Theater!
Stone Temple Pilots (often abbreviated as STP) was formed in San Diego (California) in 1989 by Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Kretz (drums). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as hard rock (a loosely defined subgenre of rock music featuring heavy use of aggressive vocals, distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, and often accompanied with pianos and keyboards), alternative rock (is a style of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1980s and became widely popular in the 1990s), grunge (a subgenre of alternative rock that fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, with lyrics that are typically angst filled, often addressing themes such as social alienation, apathy, confinement, and a desire for freedom), and post grunge (a derivative of grunge music that uses the sounds and aesthetics of grunge, but with a more commercially accessible tone). They've had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, 1 live album, 3 compilation albums, 1 extended play, 34 singles, and 18 music videos, and a Grammy Award (for Best Hard Rock Performance). The band currently consists of Dean, Robert, Eric, and lead vocalist Jeff Gutt.
