Toad the Wet Sprocket, California’s sensational alternative rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Marquee Theater!
Toad the Wet Sprocket was formed in Santa Barbara in 1986 by Glen Phillips (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, mandolin, and keyboards), Todd Nichols (lead guitar, backing vocals, and mandolin), Dean Dinning (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, and rhythm guitar), and Randy Guss (drums and backing vocals). They named the band from a Monty Python comedy sketch (called Rock Notes) in which a journalist delivers a music news report. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegazing) and pop rock (a genre that originated in the 1950s, influenced by the beat, arrangements, and style of rock and roll but with a greater emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft). They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 3 compilation albums, 3 live albums, 4 extended plays, 21 singles, and their music has been featured in films (Drop Zone, Empire Records, Fear, Latter Days) and TV shows (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, My So-Called Life, Scrubs).
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to pop rock and indie rock music!
