Whitney Cummings, Washington D.C.’s sensational and multi talented comedian is bringing her indelible comedy to the Marquee Theater!

Whitney Cummings was born in Georgetown in 1982 and is a stand up comedian and actress. She was first introduced to stand up comedy at the age of 12 when she read a book written by renowned comedian Paul Reiser. She said in an interview, “I found it at a yard sale and I carried it around with me for six years. But to me, I was obsessed with justice, and I think a lot of comedians have that common denominator…I loved the truth…but I didn’t do stand-up until I was like 21…People kept suggesting that I do it as their way to get me to stop yelling at them about things that annoy me.” Her comedic style is best described as a blend of observational comedy, insult comedy, blue comedy (a style that’s off color, risqué, indecent or profane, and largely about sex) and she jokes about a variety of topics such as gender differences, sexism, human sexuality, and relationships. She’s had a stellar career with 2 Comedy Central specials, 1 HBO special, and she’s the creator and star of the NBC sitcom Whitney, as well as the co-creator of the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls. She’s also starred in many other TV shows and films.
